
Cutthroats Sweep Beast to Clinch Spot in Playoffs

Brampton - The Denver Cutthroats and Brampton Beast battled for the final night in the three-game series on Monday, March 10 at the Powerade Centre in Brampton, Ontario. Four power play goals helped the Cutthroats sweep the Beast 4-2 and clinch a spot in the playoffs.
J.P Chabot opened the night with two consecutive goals to give the Denver Cutthroats an early lead in the first period. J.P. Chabot (Garett Bembridge, Troy Schwab) fired a shot to the back of the Beast's net with 14:48 remaining in the first. Chabot (Bembridge) scored his second goal of the night to give the Cutthroats a 2-0 lead. Teammate Vincent Arseneau (Lee Moffie) closed the period with Denver's third shot into Brampton's cage.
Steve Makway (Matt Caruana, Josh McQuade) gave the Brampton Beast momentum in the second 20 minutes of play with the team's first goal of the game. Matt Caruana (Jamie VanderVeeken, Jason Pitton) fired a shot past Cutthroats netminder John Griggs to cut the deficit to one, 3-2 Denver.
A one-timer from A.J. Gale (Steve Kaunisto, Schwab) sealed the Denver Cutthroats victory 4-2 over the Brampton Beast in the third period. The Cutthroats three-game sweep over the Beast helped the team to clinch a spot in the playoffs with a 31-15-10 record.
The Denver Cutthroats will head to Moline, Illinois to take on the Quad City Mallards on Wednesday, March 12. The Cutthroats will return to the Denver Coliseum for the team's final regular season home series on Friday, March 14, Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16.
