Cutters schedule fall tryout camp

September 16, 2005 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Haven County Cutters News Release

The New Haven County Cutters will be holding their second tryout camp of the year on Sunday, October 2. Players with professional or significant college experience are invited to participate. Registration for the camp begins at 8:30 a.m. at Yale Field. The camp is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.

We decided to hold these tryouts because so many players, especially those just finished with college eligibility this year, contacted us throughout the summer asking about opportunities," said Bob Wirz, director of player procurement. "Many of the players have Connecticut ties, and we don't like to ignore who feels he has the talent to play at this level. It wasn't practical to see everyone during the season."

Manager Mike Church and his staff will oversee the camp as they look at possible candidates for the 2006 team. Participants should be dressed in appropriate baseball attire and must provide their own gloves, bats and cleats.

The Cutters held a pre-season tryout camp in May and brought three of the players into training camp.

There is a $25 cash registration fee. Directions to Yale Field can be found on the Cutters website, www.CuttersBaseball.com. For more information about the tryout camp, call 203 380-9931.
