Cutters opener cut short

The New Haven County Cutters will have to wait another day to finish their first official game. Torrential rain in the top of the 4 th inning forced the suspension of their contest with the Elmira Pioneers after the Cutters had grabbed a 3-0 lead.

On the first pitch following a 41 minute rain delay, the Cutters opened the scoring on Billy Rich's 2-run home run off reliever Brad Cook. One batter later, Ryan Kane went extending the lead to 3-0. Shortly after, the skies opened up for the second time, suspending the game with 2 out and runners on 1 st and 2 nd in the top of the 4 th .

The two teams will complete their 9 inning game on Friday beginning at 5 o'clock. Approximately 25 minutes later, the regularly scheduled match up between the Cutters and Pioneers will take place.

The New Haven County Cutters play their home games in Elm City's historic Yale Field. The club plays a 92-game schedule in the eight-team independent Northeast League. The Cutters open their home schedule on Monday, May 31 st , at 6:05 PM. Season tickets, 10-game and 20-game mini-plans are available by contacting the Cutters front office at (203) 777-5636.
