North Shore Spirit News Release

The North Shore Spirit made it two wins in a row Thursday night by downing the Aces, 8-5, at the New Fraser Field.

Onix Mercado, filling in for injuried catcher Frank Charles, had two hits, including a two-run home run. Travis Oglesby also went deep and drove in a pair for the Spirit.

North Shore starter Jeremy Sugarman went 6 2/3 innings for the win. Sugarman allowed 4 runs on 10 hits while striking out 4. Aaron Dean recorded the last seven outs to pick up the save.

Leading 4-0 in the bottom of the third, Aces starter Jaime Saldana walked Mike Granger with two outs and the bases empty. ic Davilla got the Spirit on the board when he blooped an RBI double to left. Mercado then sent a 2-2 offering over the left-field wall for his first home run of the season, cutting the Aces' lead to 4-3.

The Spirit grabbed the lead for good in the seventh inning. After a Mercado single, Travis Oglesby crushed a Nick Devenney fastball over the center-field fence. The Spirit would tack on another run later in the inning when Brian Macchi's two-out single drove in Joe Hastings to make it 6-4.
