Altoona Curve News Release

ALTOONA, Pa - The Altoona Curve are pleased to announce a bevy of fun-filled, family-oriented activities for their 2009 "Baseball Bash", on Friday March 13 at Blair County Ballpark from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. This new and exciting event (formerly known as "TicketPalooza") will be filled with several fresh ideas this year.

Traditionally held on a Saturday morning, the new Friday night time will give fans their first opportunity to take advantage of recently lowered individual ticket prices for the 2009 season and will also be a fabulous, entertaining night out for their entire family.

The March 13 event will afford the chance for an enduring Altoona Curve fan to be recognized for how much they love their Hometown Team. With a new, unique contest, the ultimate test of endurance and fanhood will be put to the test with a competition that will run throughout the day of "Baseball Bash". Beginning at 6:00 a.m., any Curve fan is invited for a chance to win a pair of season tickets in the "Out-STANDING" Fan Competition. Fans will have to stand and remain in contact with a hand, arm, foot, or leg to one of the Curve's life-size bobble heads, Steamer or Diesel Dawg. The last fan standing, while still in contact with one of the mascot statues, will win a pair of Grandstand Season Tickets valued at $710.

Once the three-hour event officially begins at 5:00 p.m., so will plenty of activities for fans of all ages. For the first time ever at a pre-season event, fans will be allowed inside the ballpark to witness a fireworks show. The display will be a sneak preview of the new-look fireworks shows fans can expect to see throughout the year at BCB.

Free ballpark-style food and beverages will be served throughout Baseball Bash. In addition to hot dogs, popcorn, soda, and beer, the Curve will also offer "Fish Dogs" to those in attendance. The beer-battered fish, which is similar to a footlong hot dog in size and shape, will be served on a hot dog bun with tartar sauce available as a condiment. This unique item, which presents a tasty option for a Friday night event in Lent, will be served at the ballpark during the 2009 season.

A band will on site to provide live entertainment for the assembled Curve fans in one of two heated tents. The other tent will be set up just outside the ticket office to offer a comfortable setting for fans ordering their seats for the upcoming season.

"We're very excited to launch into our 2009 season with a different event than our fans have ever experienced," said Curve General Manager Rob Egan. "Doing it on a Friday night with a fireworks show, live entertainment, and our "Out-STANDING Fan" contest will provide a fun atmosphere while fans pick out seats for the games of their choice."

Plenty of activities will be available for kids, including face painting, a sidewalk chalk art center, and a coloring station. Curve mascots, Steamer and Diesel Dawg, will be entertaining the crowd with their antics, as well.

College basketball fans don't have to miss Baseball Bash, either. With the Big East, Big Ten and other conference tournaments in full swing, the Curve will provide a big screen TV with amplified sound up at the ballpark box office for those who don't want to miss a minute of the action.

The Curve Stockyard merchandise store will also be open throughout the evening allowing fans one final chance to take advantage of the huge, 50 percent off sale on all apparel and specialty Curve hats.

If fans cannot wait for Baseball Bash to get underway on Friday, March 13, they can still take advantage of the new, lower pricing on Curve season tickets and mini-plans by calling 877-99-CURVE or stopping by Blair County Ballpark during normal business hours.

NOTE: The ticket office at Blair County Ballpark will also be open on Saturday, March 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for those unable to attend Baseball Bash.
