
Cubs Stop Skid, Beat Isotopes 3-1

The Iowa Cubs ended their six-game skid with a 3-1 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes Sunday afternoon at Principal Park.
Iowa got on the board early with a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Matt Camp, John-Frod Griffin and Matt Craig hit consecutive singles to spark the offense. Camp scored on Craig's single and Griffin crossed home for Iowa's second run of the inning when Brad Snyder popped into a force out.
The Isotopes cut Iowa's lead 2-1 in the fourth inning when former I- Cub J.D. Closser homered to left field. The Cubs answered right back with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Mark Johnson hit his first triple of the year to score Snyder and extend their lead, 3-1.
Iowa's Camp, Griffin, Snyder and Johnson each collected two hits in the win.
The Cubs' Jay Jackson (1-0), who was called up to Iowa today, threw six innings allowing one run on five hits. Jackson struck out four Isotopes. J.D. Durbin (0-6) was tagged with the loss for Albuquerque allowing eight hits, three runs (two earned) over six innings.
The Cubs and Isotopes play the final game of the season Monday at 1:05 p.m.
