Iowa Cubs News Release

Albuquerque, NM - Tonight's game between the Iowa Cubs and Albuquerque Isotopes at Isotopes Park was suspended by rain in the bottom of the second inning with the Cubs leading 1-0. The game will be picked up tomorrow night starting at 5:05 p.m. and will completed through nine innings. Tomorrow's regularly scheduled game will follow and is scheduled for seven innings.

The Cubs scored their run in the top of the second inning. With Darnell McDonald at third base and J.C. Boscan at first, pitcher Jake Arrieta laid down a bunt between the mound and home plate. Isotopes' starter Jonathan Sanchez fielded the ball, but his throw to first pulled second baseman Justin Sellers off the bag for an error. McDonald broke from third and scored ahead of Sellers' throw back to the plate.

The rain picked up as Arrieta went out to pitch in the bottom of the second. He walked Brian Barden, hit Rusty Ryal with a pitch, and walked Jeremy Moore to load the bases before the game was delayed. The teams waited approximately 90 minutes before the game was officially suspended.

Relievers Esmailin Caridad for the Cubs and Sean White for the Isotopes are expected to pitch when action continues tomorrow. RH Barret Loux (4-2, 4.56) will start for the Cubs in the second game against RH Angel Castro (4-2, 3.34) for the 'Topes. All of the action on Saturday will broadcast live on AM 940, and streamed at iowacubs.com, with the pre-game show starting at 4:45.
