Crysdale receives double recognition

Jamie Crysdale has been selected as the President Ring Award winner for the first time in his Stampeder career. He is the 4th Stampeder offensive lineman to win the award since the inception of the award 38 years ago. Bob Poley was the first offensive lineman to receive the award back in 1986 and Rocco Romano was the last offensive lineman to win it in 1997. In 2004, Jamie extended his playing streak to 205 consecutive games. Since joining the Stampeders in 1993 and starting his CFL career, Jamie has not missed a single game. PRESIDENTS' RING AWARD

This honour is presented annually at the conclusion of each football season to a player who is voted by his teammates as having exceptional motivational and leadership skills on and off the field.

The award was established in 1967 by then team President George McMahon and Stampeder General Manager Roger Lehew. Stampeder Linebacker Wayne Harris was the first ever recipient. Here's a look back at past winners of the PRESIDENTS' RING AWARD:

Jamie will be honoured at the 38th Annual President's Luncheon in the spring of 2005!

Calgary Stampeder Nominee for the Tom Pate Award

Jamie has also been recognized by his team-mates as this year's nominee for the 2005 Tom Pate Award. This award is given to players who display qualities that distinguish them from their peers by having a unique combination of outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the league and the community. The 2005 Tom Pate award winner will be announced on November 18th, 2004 at the Rogers CFL Player Awards Ceremony in Ottawa, Ontario

Jamie joined the Stampeders back in 1993 after being a late cut by the New York Giants. He played his first game on September 18th, 1993 vs the B.C. Lions.

This past season, Jamie received the news that his daughter Grace had been diagnosed with Leukemia. Jamie and the Stampeder organization initiated the "Shave your lid for a kid" campaign which raises funds for the Alberta Children's Hospital Cancer Unit through the Kids' Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta (KCCFA). Over 30 players/coaches/staff from the Stampeder organization shaved their heads raising $15,128 through the event.
