Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse Crunch scored a season-high three power-play goals to defeat the Norfolk Admirals 4-2 tonight at the War Memorial Arena.

Power-play tallies from Mark Barberio, Alex Killorn and Tyler Johnson, plus an even strength goal from Ondrej Palat propel the Crunch to an overall record of 19-7-1-3 overall and 7-4-1-1 at the War Memorial. The Crunch lead the East Division and Eastern Conference with 42 points.

Crunch netminder Dustin Tokarski stopped 16 of 18 shots faced in his fifth consecutive start to improve his season record to 12-5-3.

The Crunch scored twice on the man-advantage to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room after the first 20 minutes of play. Barberio opened the scoring with a shot from the blue line that beat Admirals goaltender Igor Bobkov 9:12 into the period. Killorn doubled the lead with a shot from the slot that trickled past Bobkov at the 12:12 mark.

Admirals right wing Kyle Palmieri scored the only goal of the second period, capitalizing on a Syracuse turnover to score on a breakaway at the 7:19 mark.

Syracuse regained its two-goal advantage when Palat pushed the rebound of a Matt Taormina point shot past Bobkov five minutes into the final frame.

Norfolk defenseman Sami Vatanen brought the Admirals within one goal for a second time with a goal halfway through the third period but Johnson put the game out of reach with the Crunch's third power-play tally making the final score 4-2.

The Crunch host Eastern Conference rival the St. John's IceCaps in their first regular season meeting on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
