Crouse Leads Riders in Opener Victory

FRISCO, Texas - On the back of a strong start from Hans Crouse, the Frisco RoughRiders downed the San Antonio Missions 7-2 from Riders Field on Tuesday night.

Crouse (1-1) earned the win for the RoughRiders (27-16), allowing just one run on three hits over his 6.2 innings while striking out three and walking one. Nick Snyder also threw well, tossing a 1-2-3 inning in his Riders home debut out of the bullpen while striking out the side.

On the offensive side, the Riders struck early with three runs in the first. After Bubba Thompson singled to open the frame, Josh Stowers mashed a two-run homer to left, his career-best eighth of the season. Anderson Tejeda later added a run with an infield RBI single to make it 3-0.

Frisco tacked on in the fourth with a pair more runs on RBI singles from Sherten Apostel and Dio Arias to stake the Riders to a 5-0 advantage.

San Antonio (23-20) then punched back in the seventh to make it 5-2 on RBI knocks by Juan Fernandez and Allen Cordoba.

Frisco regained the five-run advantage on a two-run sacrifice fly to center by Stowers, scoring J.P. Martinez and Thompson, in the eighth, making it 7-2.

Osvaldo Hernandez (1-3) took the loss for the Missions, allowing three runs over his 2.2 innings in the start.

The RoughRiders continue their six-game series with San Antonio at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23rd. RHP Yerry Rodriguez (0-1, 2.21) gets the start for the RoughRiders against LHP Aaron Leasher (4-2, 2.84).

Wednesday at Riders Field means Weiner Wednesday presented by Texas Chili Company with two-dollar hot dogs from 6-8 p.m.
