GAME HIGHLIGHTS: The Williamsport Crosscutters won a Labor Day afternoon pitching duel at Historic Bowman Field downing the Jamestown Jammers 1-0.
Starting pitcher Tyler Cloyd was dominant as he plowed through the Jammers lineup almost effortlessly. Cloyd held the Jammers scoreless in his eight innings of work yielding eight hits while striking out eight. Reliever B.J. Rosenberg notched his 9th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
The Cutters managed just four hits but they made them count. Former Penn State standout Joe Blackburn, laced a triple down the right field line that was just inches away from being a home run in the eighth. OF Arlon Quiroz's sacrifice fly scored Brandon Haislet who pinch ran for Blackburn. Quiroz also extended his hitting streak to nine games with a leadoff double in the 1st.
The Cutters (36-33) will look to sweep the two-game series with Jamestown (43-28) as the two teams meet again Tuesday. The game can be heard on ESPN 1050AM and 104.1FM and at www.crosscutters.com.
