
Crew to Open 2004 Season at Home on Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Monday, December 15) - Brian McBride and the Columbus Crew will kick off year No. 9 of Major League Soccer on Saturday, April 3, at Columbus Crew Stadium. The Black & Gold will welcome the Eastern Conference rival MetroStars to town for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
"We are looking forward to opening our ninth season against the MetroStars," said Crew President/General Manager Jim Smith. "The intensity of a divisional rivalry game will provide our fans with great atmosphere and it promises to be an exciting way to kick off our sixth campaign at Crew Stadium."

The 2004 Crew season will feature a 30-game schedule, including 15 home games and 15 road games. The regular season begins in April and will run through mid-October with the playoffs beginning in late October. The full season schedule is expected to be released in early January.
Crew players and coaches are scheduled to report for training camp on February 1 and will begin preparations for the ninth MLS season. The complete preseason training schedule will be released in the near future.
Major League Soccer's 2004 SuperDraft takes place on Friday, January 16, 2004, at the Charlotte Convention Center (10 a.m. - 2 p.m. ET). For the second consecutive year the SuperDraft will be held in conjunction with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention, one of the largest annual soccer gatherings in the United States.
