Columbus Crew SC News Release
Columbus Crew SC players and staff are scheduled to assist with The Salvation Army's charitable initiatives for two events this week.
On Wednesday, December 17, the Black & Gold will be assisting in The Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer event, to take place at the Ohio State Fairgrounds (DiSalle Center) at 9:30 a.m. ET. Chad Barson, Michael Parkhurst, Ben Speas and Tyson Wahl will join Frankie Hejduk in what is Central Ohio's largest holiday toy and food distribution program. The annual event is set to distribute food and toys to nearly 8,000 families in need.
On Saturday, December 20, Hejduk and Ethan Finlay will show their support for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign by ringing bells at Easton Town Center's North Entrance, with Hejduk ringing at 1:00 p.m. ET and Finlay assisting at 2:00 p.m. ET. Funds raised through this campaign enable The Salvation Army to bring the spirit of Christmas to people who would otherwise be forgotten. Annually, The Salvation Army in the United States aids more than six million people at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
These two events are a continuation of the relationship between Crew SC and The Salvation Army. Last week, Black & Gold employees volunteered for 20 hours in support of The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.
