Crawdads Shell Intimidators with 12-3 Win

(Kannapolis, NC) – Hickory (27-11) lit up the Kannapolis sky scoring 12 runs on 12 hits in Wednesday's 12-3 victory over the Intimidators.

The game was tied 1-1 going into the top of the fourth inning when the Crawdads scored two runs without a hit taking the lead 4-2. The first twp batters in the inning, Brad Eldred and Bobby Kingsbury walked off Intimidators starter Sean Tracey (1-5). Travis Chapman hit a sacrifice bunt moving the runners up one base each. Ryan Newman hit a ground ball to second base scoring Eldred and moving Kingsbury to third base. He scored on a wild pitch with Tabor Lee at the plate.

Tracey picked up his fifth loss off the season and struggled with his control walking six and giving up three runs on one hit in four innings of work.

For the second time in three games, the Crawdads exploded for six runs in the seventh inning. Adam Larson was the victim Wednesday night surrendering six runs on five hits in one third of an inning. Armando Perez finished the game for Kannapolis (18-21) allowing two runs in two and two third innings of work.

Alex Hart (5-0) improved his record to 5-0 holding the Intimidators to two runs on three hits. Dave Beigh (2) earned the save, his second, giving up one run in three and one-third innings.

Thursday's series finale is the last chance for fans to see the in-state rivals. First pitch for the Vinnie's Crawfish Boil on Thirsty Thursday at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium is at 7:05pm. Zach Duke makes the start for Hickory while Paulino Reynoso throws for Kannapolis.
