Buffalo Destroyers News Release

(BUFFALO, NY) - Buffalo Destroyers Head Coach and General Manager Ray Bentley announced the team has re-signed OL/DL Jerry Crafts to a one-year deal. Crafts was also activated from the team's exempt roster after finishing the 2001 season with the Oakland Raiders.

"Jerry came in and did a solid job for us last year," Bentley said. "He has had some time off to build himself back up and I expect him to be a force for us this year on both sides of the ball."

Last season with the Destroyers, he played center and defensive line recording five tackles, a fumble recovery and knocked down three passes.

"I'm excited to re-sign with the Destroyers," Crafts said. "This is a great opportunity to be part of a winning team and after being in football for 13 years, this is the gravy on my mash potatoes."

Crafts, the ultimate journeyman, holds the unofficial record for games played in different leagues. He has played for five different teams in four different leagues in the past two years. Over that span, Crafts played in 73 games in 82 weeks.

In 2001, Crafts suited up for the LA Xtreme of the XFL before coming to the Destroyers. After the Destroyers season, Crafts was in the Raiders training camp but was cut on the final day. He joined the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League before rejoining the Raiders in November. He played with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1997 and 1998. He also played with the Buffalo Bills from 1992 to 1994. Crafts and company are getting ready for the 2002 season as they kick off with New Jersey Friday, April 19 at the HSBC Arena. Season and group are on sale now. Call 881-4444 today!
