
Coyotes Sign DiSalvatore, Tenute

SAN ANTONIO (July 9, 2007) - The Phoenix Coyotes, parent club of the San Antonio Rampage, have signed center Joey Tenute (teh-NOOT) and right wing Jon DiSalvatore (dih-sal-vuh-TOH-ray) to one-year contracts.
Tenute, 24, has recorded 50-plus points and scored 20-plus goals during his two American Hockey League seasons with the Hershey Bears.
Last season, the Hamilton, Ontario native finished second on the team in scoring with 28 goals and 68 points during the regular season. Tenute helped guide the Bears to the AHL's Calder Cup Finals, scoring four goals in Hershey's first six playoff games before being injured in the second round.
Originally signed to an AHL contract for the 2005-06 season with Hershey, the Washington Capitals signed the 2005 ECHL Rookie of the Year to a multi-year contract after scoring 14 points (6 goals, 8 assists) in 14 games. Tenute finished as one of the AHL's top rookies, scoring 20 goals and 50 points.
In addition to his rookie of the year honor, the 5-foot-9, 188-pound Tenute was also selected to the ECHL Rookie Team and Second Team All-ECHL after leading league rookies with 75 points and tying for the rookie lead with 34 goals and 41 assists in 2004-05. Selected in the eighth round (261st overall) by the New Jersey Devils in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, he led league rookies with 25 power-play points and ranked third with 16 power-play assists, while ranking fifth among all players in goals and scoring.
Tenute, who scored a goal for the American Conference in the ECHL All-Star Game, scored a point in a league season-high 14 consecutive games (8g-16a) and tied the ECHL season high for assists (5) and points (6) in a 7-3 win on March 8.
Additionally, the 26-year-old DiSalvatore has been a perennial 20-plus goal scorer in all four of his AHL seasons and has recorded 60-plus points in the last two seasons with the Peoria Rivermen. This past season, he finished second on the team with 39 assists and 60 points in 76 games. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound DiSalvatore led the Rivermen in scoring during the 2005-06 season, recording 67 points (22 goals, 45 assists) in 72 games, and also making his NHL debut.
Selected as the San Jose Sharks' second choice (4th round, 104th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the Bangor, Maine native has compiled 87 goals and 131 assists for 218 points in 301 games after four AHL seasons with Cleveland, Worcester and Peoria.
