
Coyotes pull away, drop Aces 9-6

Edinburg, TX; June 6, 2006 - After an offensive opening three innings that saw each team score six times, the Edinburg Coyotes pulled away for a 9-6 win over the Alexandria Aces Tuesday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Coyotes scored single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings and got three innings of shutout relief from their bullpen. Catcher Robinson Cancel led the way for Edinburg with a 3-for-3 night and four RBI, including a three-run homer in the first inning and a solo homer in the third.
Edinburg took the lead for good in the fifth inning, when Eddie Lara singled up the middle to drive in Jose Olmeda, who had doubled. Starter Buddy Bengel (1-1) took the loss for the Aces, while Edinburg righty Neomar Flores (3-0) settled down to earn the win. Edwar Ramirez pitched the ninth for his eighth save.
For the Aces, four different players had two hits apiece. Catcher Mike Lynch, who was signed earlier in the day, was 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Keto Anderson, Richard Paz, and Luis Guance also had two hits each. The Aces stole four bases in a five-run second inning, taking a 5-4 lead.
The three-game series continues tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m., with Alexandria righthander Donnie Bridges making his debut against Edinburg lefty Bric Steed. The series concludes Thursday before the Aces complete the road trip at Laredo. The Aces return home to Bringhurst Field June 13.
