Central Valley Coyotes News Release

FRESNO – Two key components from last season's starting line up, full back/linebacker JaJuan Huddleston and quarterback Juston Wood, have been assigned to the Central Valley Coyotes, head coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. announced today.

"I am glad we were able to make these signings because anytime you can bring back returning talent it creates cohesiveness," Biletnikoff Jr. said. "I expect each of these players to step up and be real leaders this year."

Huddleston (6-3, 245 pounds) played in all 16 games for the Coyotes last season. The two-way star caught 40 passes for 364 yards and six touchdowns on offense. Defensively, he tallied 55 tackles, one sack and one interception.

A product of Fresno State University, Huddleston was a defensive end for the Bulldogs from 2000-01. Prior to enrolling at Fresno State, the talented defender spent two years at College of the Redwoods (Eureka, Calif.) as a free safety. He led the Corsairs to an 8-2 record in 1996 and a 7-3 mark in 1997 while earning second-team all-league honors as a freshman and first-team honors as a sophomore.

Born on Sept. 8, 1978, Huddleston was a linebacker at Mazama (Klamath Falls, Ore.) High where he earned MVP honors his senior year.

Wood (6-1, 205 pounds) joined the Coyotes late last season after being acquired from the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League. In five games with Central Valley, he completed 60 of 105 passes for 651 yards and 15 touchdowns, including a seven-touchdown performance on July 10, 2004 against San Diego.

Prior to playing arena football, Wood had an illustrious career at Portland State (1999-2002) where he racked up 5,652 yards passing and 37 touchdowns. In 2001, Wood was ranked sixth in the nation amongst all Division I-AA quarterbacks for yards per game with 291.9. He was also a two-time Academic All-American (2001-02) while also earning Big Sky first team All-Conference honors (2001).

Wood signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings in April of 2003 prior to being released before the start of the regular season.

Born on December 27, 1979, Wood was born and raised in Portland, Ore.

The Coyotes will kick off their 2005 af2 season with an exhibition game at Selland Arena on March 27. The regular season starts on the road in Bakersfield on April 2. Fifty dollar deposits for 2005 Coyote season tickets, which include all nine games played at Selland Arena, are now being accepted at 559-263-9780.
