North Carolina Courage News Release
CARY, NC - The North Carolina Courage head to Texas to take on the Houston Dash for the first time in 2022 this Sunday, May 29, at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on Paramount+ and Twitch (internationally).
Last Time Out: The North Carolina Courage fell to the San Diego Wave last weekend, as the league newcomers relied on a goal from Alex Morgan to secure the result.
San Diego struck first in Sunday afternoon's match, the scoring play beginning as Taylor Kornieck sent a driven ball upfield, splitting the Courage defense to connect with Morgan. Taking the ball in stride, Morgan cut the ball to her left foot, entering the 18 and firing off a shot to give the Wave a 1-0 edge in the 42nd minute. Despite a valiant push for an equalizer throughout the second half, the North Carolina side were unable to erase the deficit as the final whistle blew.

North Carolina Courage - #7 Malia Berkely
Courage defender Malia Berkely is a new face this season, having signed a two-year contract following a transfer agreement with FC Girondins de Bordeaux in December 2021. Named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 and 2020 while at Florida State University, Berkely poses a threat wherever she is on the pitch and thus far has two clearances, four interceptions, two key passes and an 88.9% tackles success rate in three starts this season. During the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup, Berkely scored one goal, a golazo against the Washington Spirit.
Houston Dash - #3 Rachel Daly
Dash forward and captain Rachel Daly will celebrate her 100th career NWSL regular-season appearance in Sunday's game, and will look to add to her growing tally of goals against the Courage. In the last meeting between the squads, the Harrogate, England, native netted a brace in the Dash's 4-1 win at PNC Stadium. Daly opened the scoring for the Dash in their most recent match, a 2-0 win over the Portland Thorns.
Up Next: The North Carolina Courage continue their road swing against Racing Louisville on Saturday, June 4, at 8 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed live on Paramount+, Twitch.
