North Carolina Courage News Release
KANSAS CITY. Mo. - The North Carolina Courage fell to the Kansas City Current, 1-0, Saturday night at Children's Mercy Park. The loss snaps a run of five straight unbeaten for the Courage while the Current snap a four-match skid.
The lone goal on the night came within the first eight minutes. After the Courage held possession for basically the entire opening few minutes, a counter put the Current through against the run of play when Debinha got to the end line and centered a ball for Kristin Hamilton to finish.
A late push for North Carolina gave them some opportunities to earn a point. The Courage thought they had the late equalizer with under 10 minutes to play. After an initial shot was stopped, Olivia Wingate tapped in the rebound, but was ruled offside. The Courage did not have an official shot for the first 80 minutes of action but rattled off seven down the stretch for a puncher's chance.
