Carolina Courage News Release
Morrisville, NC (April 2, 2003) - The 2002 WUSA Founders Cup champion Carolina Courage announced its regional television schedule today. Time Warner Cable will be broadcasting nine Carolina Courage games regionally. These games will appear on exclusive Time Warner Cable channels throughout the state of North Carolina on Time Warner Cable systems in Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, Greensboro, and Fayetteville. In the Triangle market of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, Carolina Courage games will be carried on Triangle TV (Channel 24).
The regional schedule, which includes six home games and three on the road, will supplement the WUSA's national television coverage on PAX and ESPN2. The Courage will be featured on at least three national broadcasts, including the telecast of the WUSA season opener - a historic rematch of Founders Cup II against Mia Hamm and the Washington Freedom this Saturday on ESPN2.
The Courage returns a veteran broadcast team that includes play-by-play announcer Dean Linke, color analyst Bill Palladino, and sideline reporter Kim Yankowski-Montgomery.
Linke, who also hosts the Carolina Courage Soccer Show on ESPN2's Local Sports Break, returns for his third season as the voice of the Carolina Courage. The President and General Manager of Chapel Hill radio station WCHL 1360, Linke has a broadcast portfolio includes Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids and broadcasts of the 2001 UNC women's and men's soccer on theTar Heel Sports Network, including the NCAA Men's Final Four in Columbus, Ohio.
Bill Palladino is the longtime Assistant Coach of the 17-time NCAA Champion UNC women's soccer team, and is currently the Assistant Coach of the U.S. Women's National Team.
Yankowski-Montgomery, or "Yanki", as Courage fans affectionately know her, was a crowd favorite during her two seasons in a Carolina Courage uniform. A former NC State All-American, Yankowski-Montgomery has deep ties to the Raleigh community, having led the Raleigh Wings to two W-League championships.
