Carolina Courage News Release

Morrisville, NC (September 8, 2003) -- Norwegian Head Coach Age Steen has named Carolina Courage midfielder Hege Riise to his 20-player roster for the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup. Riise, 34, has made a speedy recovery after suffering a complete tear of the ACL in her right knee on April 19 in her second match of the 2003 WUSA season. The all-time leader in games played for Norway with 177, Riise will be making her fourth World Cup appearance. Riise led Norway to the 1995 Women's World Cup championship where she earned the Golden Ball as the most outstanding player.

Unni Lehn, Riise's teammate in the Courage midfield, was also named to Norway's World Cup roster. Lehn was also a member of Norway's World Cup team in 1999.
