Countdown to Face-Off

For the second straight night, the Kalamazoo Wings will lace up their skates against archrivals, the Fort Wayne Komets. Fort Wayne defeated Kalamazoo 2-1 last night at Memorial Coliseum and in the process tied both the season series and second place in the league with the K-Wings.

Besides concluding a home and home series with Fort Wayne, tonight's contest also commences a four-game home stand for the K-Wings. On the season, Kalamazoo is 7-5-0 at Wings Stadium, including a 3-2 victory over Fort Wayne back on November 10th.

While the Komets have dominated at home, they are at the .500 mark away from Memorial Coliseum. Fort Wayne, who is 5-5-0 in road games, starts the night six points ahead of the Rockford IceHogs for first place honors in the Western Conference.

Ready Teddy

Tonight is the Seventh Annual Teddy Bear Toss night presented by Kodiak Construction, WOTV and WKFR. When the K-Wings score their first goal, fans are encouraged to throw bears or other stuffed animals onto the ice. A majority of the bears collected will go to the Angel Tree Foundation. The remaining bears will be delivered to the Children's Hospital this Monday at 2 p.m. by Slappy and K-Wings players.

This evening starts a four-game home stand for the K-Wings. On the season, Kalamazoo is 7-5-0 in games played at Wings Stadium.

Rookie Sensation

Forward Justin Cross has adjusted well to life in the UHL. Cross leads all rookies in overall goals (12) and power-play tallies (7).

How the West is Won

Despite the loss last night to Fort Wayne, Kalamazoo has played well against the Western Conference. On the season, the K-Wings are 6-3-0 against teams from the west.
