With the bases loaded and two outs in the opening frame, Gilberto Celestino collected a bases-clearing double to extend the Cedar Rapids edge to 4-0.

Weiss yielded an RBI ground out to Encarnacion in the second and Pearson drove in a run with a single in the fourth. Weiss (2-5) ultimately lasted five innings, but he was tagged for six runs on seven hits in a losing decision.

The Cougar offense was able to muster three hits. A runner never advanced past first base. Cedar Rapids starting pitcher Josh Winder (6-1) dazzled with eight innings of three-hit ball with no runs, no walks and eight punchouts. Winder earned the win.
