Lubbock Cotton Kings News Release

LUBBOCK, TX: September 7, 2005 - The defending Southwest Division winning Lubbock Cotton Kings have a familiar name returning to their front office staff as Chris Due has been named Director of Broadcasting/Media Relations.

Due, a 29 year-old native of Fort Worth, Texas, returns to the Cotton Kings, where he served the same position for four season from 99/00 to 02/03. He departed the Hub City after the 02/03 season for the Rio Grande Valley to help the start-up Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League and the Rio Grande Valley Dorados of the arenafootball2 league while his wife, Kylie, attended dental school.

"It was hard leaving the Valley because the great organization and co-workers I was stepping away from, but when my wife's education had been complete and she was offered a job back in Lubbock, it was not a difficult choice to decide to move back," said Due. "When I returned, the Cotton Kings and their fans had open arms towards my arrival and it has turned into a win-win situation to follow my roots. I have a lot of great memories with this organization and I hope to continue having more this season."

With his duties with the organization, Due will handle all aspects of media relations and will also serve as the play-by-play broadcaster for Cotton Kings broadcasts. This season will be Due's 12th season involved in professional sports and his eighth behind the microphone. Due began interning and doing assistant work in 93/94 with the Fort Worth Fire (CHL) and Fort Worth Calvary (Arena Football League) before enrolling into college at Oklahoma Christian University. He served as the university based radio station's Station and Sports Director while at Oklahoma Christian and also assisted with the PR Department of the Oklahoma City Blazers (CHL) and as the Media Relations Director of the Oklahoma Coyotes (Roller Hockey International). Due spent a season of professional baseball in 1998 with the Texas-Louisiana League Champion Alexandria (LA) Aces before returning to the ice with the West Coast Hockey League's Fresno Falcons. It was after the 98/99 season in Fresno that Due arrived in Lubbock to help start-up the Cotton Kings. In 00/01, Due was named as the WPHL PR Executive of the Year and was part of the Cotton Kings staff that was named WPHL Franchise of the Year. In the Valley, Due was part of the Killer Bees staff that was honored as the CHL Franchise of the Year following the 03/04 season. Due was named to the 1999 WPHL All-Star Broadcast Team in Amarillo and was part of last season's CHL All-Star Broadcast Team in Laredo.

Due will be the team liaison with the media and can best be reached at 806-549-4228.
