Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

The Lubbock Cotton Kings scored early and often on the Fort Worth Brahmas Saturday night at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Lubbock recorded the first four goals of the game and went on to a 6-2 victory over the Brahmas in the two teams' only meeting of the 2004-2005 CHL season.

Lubbock forwards Nolan Graham, Bruno Lemire and Jeremy Kyte netted goals in the first period to stake Lubbock to a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes of play. Fort Worth starting goaltender Dan Murphy was replaced by backup Larry Sterling to start the second period of play, but the Cotton Kings continued their attack. Lubbock center Jan Melichercik lifted the puck past Sterling 3:27 into the second period to extend the Cotton Kings lead to 4-0. Fort Worth finally scored on center Aaron Davis's unassisted shorthanded goal at the 7:46 mark of the second, but Lubbock answered right back with a powerplay goal from Emory Olauson to restore their four goal lead at 5-1.

The Brahmas pulled back to within 5-2 on left wing Chad Woollard's redirection of a Jorin Welsh slapshot late in the second period. For Woollard, the goal was his Brahmas team leading 6th of the season.

Cotton Kings winger Anders Strome scored the only goal of the third period, when he finished off a two on none shorthanded rush 9:31 into the final frame. Strome's goal set the final score at 6-2.

The loss for Fort Worth snapped the Brahmas three game winning streak and dropped their record to 3-2-1 on the season. The Brahmas will try to get back on the winning track next weekend with a trio of home games. Fort Worth will play host to Corpus Christi on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming Memphis to town for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Saturday night's game (Nov. 13) will also be at 7:30 p.m. while Sunday's faceoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. For additional information, please contact the Brahmas team office at (817) 336-4423.
