Normal, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have signedINF/OF Justin Smith.The CornBelters will play their first game of the 2012 season at the Corn Crib on Friday, May 18 at 6:30pm (CEFCU Opening Night).
In 2010, Smithfinishedhis collegiate career at the University of West Georgia with a.340 batting average, 31 runs scored, 19 doubles, two home runs, and 42 RBI. In 2011, he played with the White Sands Pupfish of the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs (Independent) where he hit .351 with 11 doubles, five home runs, 50 RBI andfive stolen bases.
"Justin adds tremendous flexibility to our roster because he's a Rookie that can play in the infield and outfield, run and hit," said Field Manager Chad Parker.
