NORMAL, Ill. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, gave up a lead with a big eighth inning as the Washington Wild Things evened the midweek three-game series with a 6-2 win on Wednesday night at the Corn Crib.
The CornBelters opened the scoring in the second inning by loading the bases, scoring a pair on a ground ball from Miguel Torres when a relay throw on an attempted double play landed in the Normal dugout.
The Wild Things surged in front in the eighth inning with five runs with RBIs on a Justin Bohn single, Bralin Jackson fielder's choice, a double by Hector Roa and a two-run homer by Mike Hill. Washington added an unearned run in the ninth inning for insurance.
Trevor Foss (7-3) earned his third complete game of the season with the win, giving up one earned run on six hits with no walks and four strikeouts. Shawn Blackwell (4-2) took the loss in relief, giving up the go-ahead Wild Things runs.
