
CornBelters Begin Six-Game Home Stand

NORMAL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, are set to begin a six-game home stand tomorrow. Following a six-game road trip and the first off day in twenty-four days, the CornBelters will be back at the Corn Crib on Tuesday, August 9 at 7:00pm (Reading `Round the Bases Tuesday / Corny's Birthday!).
Tuesday, August 9, 7pm: All kids in attendance are welcome to run the bases after the game every Tuesday night! On "Reading 'Round the Bases Tuesday," Rosati's of Normal reading program participants have the opportunity to be recognized during a pre-game parade around the field. They are also welcome to use their ticket voucher on this night for the best available seating in the ballpark! This Tuesday we invite you to come help Corny celebrate his birthday! Corny's mascot friends will be here to celebrate this special day too!
Wednesday, August 10, 7pm: Wednesday has gone to the dogs! Don't forget to bring out your barking best friends. All dogs must stay in the Lawn during the game - for obvious reasons! You can also help fight hunger by bringing one or more canned goods to the Corn Crib on any Wednesday night and receive a free small popcorn, compliments of Sodexo! Cans can be dropped off at any concession stand in the ballpark that serves popcorn. It's also "Illini Night" at the Corn Crib! Wear your orange and show off your Fighting Illini pride as we are only a month away from the kickoff of college football season! University of Illinois Head Baseball Coach Dan Hartleb will be in attendance pumping up Illini fans all night long! Coach Hartleb helped guide the University of Illinois Baseball team to the 2011 Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament Championship!
Thursday, August 11, 7pm: Every Thursday night is "Thirsty Thursday" where select draft beers are available for only $1.00! There will also be a bags tournament on the concourse! It's "Subdivision Night" at the Corn Crib! Bring all of your neighbors out for a pre-game tailgating party in the parking lot! It's also "70's Night" so get ready for some disco music and 70s themed events throughout the night!
Friday, August 12, 7pm: Every Friday is "CEFCU All American Friday!" CornBelters players will be wearing special patriotic jerseys every Friday during the entire season to show their pride! Stick around after the game for a spectacular fireworks show brought to you by CEFCU! Local Girl Scouts are also invited to enjoy Box Seating, a private post-game autograph party with CornBelters players and Corny, an overnight campout on the field with snacks and a movie on the video board, as well as an optional breakfast in the morning.
Saturday, August 13, 7pm: State Farm Starstruck Saturday presents Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk! The official mascot of the 2010 Stanley Cup Champions will be on hand to throw out the first pitch, sign autographs and entertain the crowd with his wild antics! Gates will open at a special time of 1:30pm this Saturday. Be sure to come out early and check out great music starting at 2:00 pm for our 1st Local Music Showcase, presented by S.A.W. Entertainment Events and the McLean County MissFits. This is your chance to see some of the hottest unsigned bands that Central Illinois has to offer! We will have our 2nd Annual Hometown Heroes Night benefitting Special Olympics Illinois as well. Local law enforcement will play against each other in a softball game starting at 4:45 pm! Special Olympics Illinois athletes will participate in pre-game activities by being recognized on the field, reciting their oath, and participating in a first pitch. Show your support throughout the game by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets from Special Olympics Illinois to help them raise money! All local bands participating in the Local Music Showcase will also be collecting money for Special Olympics Illinois throughout the game at their showcase booths as well as donating back a portion of their ticket sales to the cause! CornBelters players will be wearing Special Olympics / Law Enforcement jerseys during the game that will be raffled off after the game to benefit Special Olympics Illinois. Be sure to stick around directly after the game for your chance at this once-in-a lifetime opportunity to make a bid and claim you favorite Belter's jersey to take home!
Sunday, August 14, 6pm: Stick around after the game every Sunday to go down on the field and get autographs from all of your favorite CornBelters players and coaches as well as Corny! The firefighters from Bloomington and Normal will be squaring off in the second "Battle of the Bravest" softball game benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Be sure to come out and support them when their game starts at 3:30pm. They will also have stations around the ballpark all night to "Fill the Boot" with all proceeds going to the MDA! There will also be a special appearance by Sparky the Fire Dog! This Sunday is also the CornBelters "Football Kickoff Night!" Any football team that brings out a group will have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch and have their schedule promoted during the game!

THE NIBLET: Tuesday, August 23 is the final "Reading `Round the Bases Tuesday". This is the last opportunity for reading program participants to redeem their free ticket voucher(s) for one (1) free best available ticket and one (1) free slice of pizza from Rosati's of Normal at the game.
