Cornbelters Announce First Trade

NORMAL, IL - The Normal ComBelters, presented by the Illinois Com Farmers, recently made their frst trade. In exchange for future considerations, the CornBelters acquired SS Eric Brown from the Amarillo Dillas of the Independent United League and OF Arif Shah from the Chico Outlaws of the Independent Golden Baseball League.

The CornBelters will play the first home game of their inaugural season at the Com Crib on Tuesday, June I at 7 p.m. versus the Windy City Thunderbolts.

Brown attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX. He is working towards earning a B.S. in Occupational Education. After spending time in the Independent Continental League, he was traded to Amarillo Dillas of the United Baseball League where he hit .455 with 15 RBI and two home runs in 55 AB.

"Eric has good range, good hands and can really swing the bat," said Manager Hal Lanier. "He also has the speed to really make things happen on the base paths."

Shah attended Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, MO. He signed with Chico this past off season and hit .345 with seven RBI and two home runs in 58 AB. "Arif is an outfielder with good range and an accurate arm," said Lanier. "He's also a left-handed hitter with a solid swing."

THE NIBLET: Corny and the Normal CornBelters Staff will be at the Pantagraph Kid's Expo on Saturday February 13* from I I A.M. to 4 P.M. Corny will be greeting kids as they walk around the exhibitors of the Expo passing out baseball cards and CornBelters baseball schedules.
