San Angelo - Jose Cordero (2-1) extended the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings' scoreless pitching streak to 23 innings before allowing an unearned run in a 6-3 win tonight at Foster Field.

The WhiteWings are now winners of three-straight.

Down 3-0, the Colts (47-31) scored their first run of the series when they got an unearned run against Cordero in the bottom of the seventh. Jason Landreth led off with a double and moved to third on a wild throw by right fielder Jose Torres. John Anderson followed with an RBI- groundout to make it 3-1.

The WhiteWings (38-40) got that run back against Chace Vacek in the top of the eighth. With one out, Cabrera, Torres and DeLeon hit consecutive singles to make it 4-1.

With one out in the bottom of the eighth, however, Ronnie Gaines singles and Hunter Jobes reached on a bunt-single. Cordero's throw to first went up the right field line, allowing Gaines to score and Jobes to move to third. After Cordero recorded his eighth strikeout, Selwyn Langaigne hit an RBI-single to knock out Cordero. Juan Diaz came in, and after allowing a single to Landreth, got Anderson to fly-out to end the inning.

The WhiteWings added an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Agustin Septimo led off with an infield-single. He stole second and moved to third when the throw went into centerfield. One out later, Juan Melo hit an RBI-single. He stole second and scored on a two-out single by Santana to make it 6-3.

Julio Santana pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his league-leading 18th save.

Septimo hit his first home run of the season to give the WhiteWings a 1-0 lead against Chandler Barnard (9-5) in the top of the third.

Rico Santana led off the sixth with a single and Juan Cabrera doubled off the top of the left-center field wall. Jose Torres hit an RBI- single and Sandy DeLeon reached on an RBI-fielder's choice to make it 3-0.

The WhiteWings and Colts play game three of this four-game series tomorrow night at 5:05 at Foster Field. Right-hander Juan Peralta (2-4) is expected to face right-hander Brett Lester (4-3).

The WhiteWings are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas. In its fourth season, the United League is in the midst of a great summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Coastal Bend, Laredo, Harlingen and San Angelo.
