FORT MYERS, Fla. - Edgar Corcino delivered a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eleventh inning to break a scoreless tie and give the Fort Myers Miracle a walk-off 1-0 victory over the Charlotte Stone Crabs at Hammond Stadium on Saturday evening.
After ten scoreless innings and two dueling starting pitchers, the Miracle were finally able to scratch a run across in the eleventh inning. Stone Crabs reliever Jordan Harrison retired Ryan Walker to start the inning on a routine ground out to second base.
Brian Navarreto stepped up and singled an 0-1 pitch back through the middle. Corcino worked a full count. Before Harrison delivered his pay-off pitch, the lefty threw over to first base, but balked. Navarreto did not notice the balk and raced to second where he collided with Alec Sole. Navarreto had to exit the game and Austin Diemer came on to pinch run. On the very next pitch, Corcino roped a single into left field and Diemer rounded third and slid in safely to home plate to seal a 1-0 walk-off win.
Up until the eleventh, the Miracle had been held to just one hit through the first 10 frames. Stone Crabs starter Hunter Wood surrendered just one hit and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts over seven dominating innings. Brandon Koch tossed two scoreless frames out of the Charlotte pen.
For the Miracle, three hurlers combined for an 11-inning shutout. Starter Felix Jorge turned in seven frames without allowing a run, scattering four hits, issuing one walk and fanning four in a no decision. Trevor Hildenberger came out of the bullpen and delivered two shutout innings and Yorman Landa finished the game. Landa (2-1) went totaled two innings with one strikeout.
