Buffalo Destroyers News Release

(BUFFALO, NY) - Buffalo Destroyers OS Lamont Cooper was released from the hospital this afternoon after getting a bit of a scare Friday night. Cooper was hospitalized due to internal bleeding, collapsing in his apartment late Friday night after losing a significant amount of blood.

Doctors declared that Cooper had an ulcer. The doctors recommend he take iron and eat a lot of red meat and leafy vegetables.

"I'm happy to be out of the hospital," Cooper said. "My family is here with me and I look forward to some more rest and spending some time with them."

Cooper will have blood tests performed on Tuesday and Wednesday to monitor his recovery.

"It's great news that Lamont is home and on his way to a full recovery," said Destroyers head coach and general manager Ray Bentley. "He takes great care of himself so that should help expedite his return to the field."

Cooper will be out indefinitely while he recovers.

The Destroyers host Eastern Division leading the Toronto Phantoms in the border war Saturday May 18 at 7:00 PM at the HSBC Arena. Group and single game tickets are on sale now. Call 881-4444.
