June 25, 2003 - Frontier League (FL)
River City Rascals News Release
Michael Conner's 6th homer of the season gave River City an early 1-0 lead, but it wouldn't be enough as the Cheetahs came from behind to defeat the Rascals 3-1 on Tuesday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.
Williams (4-2) went the distance with 8 strikeouts as the Cheetahs improved to 12-13 on the season. Meanwhile, Dan Shouse (1-3) pitched 7 strong innings and allowed just 2 runs, but it wasn't enough for him to avoid a loss.
St. Charles native Damon Burkhart belted his 3rd homer of the season for Cook County in the 8th inning. Burkhart's older brother Morgan was a former three-time Frontier League MVP and is now in the Major Leagues with Kansas City.
Rascals ace Greg Modica (3-2) will start on Wednesday for the Rascals in game 2 of the series.
