
Continental Airlines Friendship Cup rescheduled to June 8

SECAUCUS, NJ (Friday, March 18, 2005) DFabis Productions announced today that the Continental Airlines Friendship Cup, which was slated for Wednesday, March 23, and pitted the MetroStars against Deportivo Cuenca of Ecuador, has been postponed until June 8, 2005 at a time and venue to be determined. The new date of the match corresponds with Continentals June 9 launch of non-stop service between Newark-Liberty International Airport and Guayaquil, Ecuador.
The reason for the cancellation is linked to Deportivo Cuencas travel complications.
The MetroStars will begin MLS competition on April 2, when they host MLS expansion team Real Salt Lake at Giants Stadium at 7:00 p.m. ET (TV: MSG). The game will mark the return of former Metros Clint Mathis and Eddie Pope to Giants Stadium.
The MetroStars will hold Media Day on Monday, March 21 at B.B. King Blues Club and Grill from Noon-2:00 p.m.
