Contest Deadline Draws Near

Brandon, Manitoba - The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings are reminding western Manitoba hockey fans that the deadline to enter this year's "How I Spent My Summer Vacation Contest" - sponsored by Oak Island Golf - is Wednesday night at midnight.

Fans are invited to visit the hockey club's new-look offical web site, tell the hockey club what you, your family and friends did this past summer and who knows, you could win this year's grand prize that includes the following - 1) Wheat Kings' replica jersey 2) Golf Prize Package from Oak Island Golf 3) Hockey Canada pine cooler autographed gold medal winners Brayden Schenn, Scott Glennie and Colby Robak.

The winner will be announced at this Friday's game at Westman Communications Group Place, when the Wheat Kings play host to the visiting Red Deer Rebels.

The club's official web site, located at www.wheatkings.com, recognized in the past for its wealth of information and exciting features , underwent a facelift and the new look was unveiled early last month. The site features several new elements as well as giving western Manitoba hockey fans the opportunity to share the highlights of their Summer vacations for a chance to win some great prizes.

On the ice, the Wheat Kings could have a new face on the ice at practice this afternoon as they continue preparations for this weekend's two games at Westman Place. 17-year old goalkeeper James Priestner was obtained Monday from the Kamloops Blazers, in exchange for a third round pick in the 2009 WHL Bantam draft.

Brandon hosts Red Deer and Regina this Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets to both games are on sale now at the Keystone box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
