Consecutive Road Wins for the Voyagers

Billings, MT - The Voyagers made it back-to-back road wins as they pounded out a season-high 16 base hits in a 6-1 victory over Billings Tuesday night at Dehler Park.

Great Falls (5-6) goes for the series sweep Wednesday. The Voyagers matched their season-best two-game winning streak as well. They have now won four of five against Billings (3-7) in the season series.

The Voyagers scored a 1st inning run for the second straight night. Ian Dawkins led off the game with a double deep to the gap in right-center. Lenyn Sosa then brought Dawkins home on a single to center. The Mustangs leveled the game with a run in the 3rd. Carlos Rivero reached on a bunt single and later scored on a two-out double to the wall in center by Mariel Bautista.

Great Falls quickly reclaimed the lead with a mark in the 4th. Ramon Beltre started the inning with a base hit to left. Ryan Fitzpatrick was hit by a pitch. Gunnar Troutwine loaded the bases with a single lined into center. An RBI groundout by Travis Moniot made it 2-1.

The Voyagers sent seven men to the plate in the 5th. Logan Sowers had a one-out single. Romy Gonzalez reached on an infield error at third. Alex Destino then banged a triple deep to the wall in left-center that drove in both Sowers and Gonzalez for a 4-1 lead. A two-spot in the 7th finished the scoring for Great Falls. Sowers led off the frame with a walk. With one out, Destino smoked his second triple of the night to right-center and scored Sowers. Ramon Beltre drove in Destino with an RBI single lined into right.

Great Falls outhit Billings 16-to-5, and finished 5-for-16 with runners in scoring position. Logan Sowers and Alex Destino both had three hits. Sowers scored twice, and Destino drove in three. Ian Dawkins and Lenyn Sosa at the top of the order each collected two hits. Ramon Beltre and Ryan Fitzpatrick also had two hits apiece.

Chris Comito picked up his first win of the season for the Voyagers. Comito (1-1) worked five innings and gave up just one earned run on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Ryan Campbell took the loss for Billings. Campbell (0-1) pitched two innings in relief and allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits with one strikeout and one walk. Wyatt Burns, Vince Arobio, and Nick Johnson combined to throw four scoreless innings in relief for Great Falls. The trio only yielded two hits and struck out five with no walks.

Great Falls closes out its six-game road trip with the series finale at Billings Wednesday night. First pitch at Dehler Park is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Voyagers return home on Thursday for the start of a four-game home stand.
