Albany Firebirds News Release
GMELIN PLACED ON RE-ASSIGNMENT WHILE DUKES AND POLLARD PLACED ON SUSPENSION
ALBANY, NY -- The Albany Conquest, of the arenafootball2 league, announced today that they have place WR/DB Dan Gmelin on re-assignment and placed WR/DB Brian "Dock" Pollard and WR/DB Chuck Dukes on suspension.
All three transactions were made due to personal reason and were not made because of actions detrimental to team rules. Gmelin is currently working a full-time job in Mont Kisco, NY and was unable to deal with the rigors of working a job and traveling two hours to play football. Meanwhile, both Dukes and Pollard are both dealing with un-disclosed personal issues and have both been placed on suspension indefinitely.
The Conquest currently have 28 players on their active roster. Training camp continues tonight through this Saturday, March 30th when the Conquest will hold an intersquad scrimmage game at Center City Sports Complex in Schenectady, NY from 6:00- 8:00 pm.
The Conquest's inaugural game is Friday, April 5th against the Mohegan Wolves at Mohegan Sun Casino. The home opener is April 20th when they host their division rival the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Pioneers at Pepsi Arena. Albany Conquest season tickets and flex packages are still available.
