Greensboro Prowlers News Release

scarfone takes over as president as tufford moves back to head coach

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro Prowlers of ArenaFootball2 (af2) have announced several changes within their front office. The most prevalent moves have Rocco Scarfone (SKAR-foan) assuming the role of president, while Gary Tufford moves from general manager to head coach and vice-president of football operations. All the changes are a result of the Prowlers management merging with the Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).

Scarfone, currently the President of the Generals, will take on the same responsibilities with the Prowlers. He will oversee all day-to-day operations for both clubs. Among his first tasks was to bring several Generals employees to work with the Prowlers in a dual role. Rick Francis has been appointed as the executive vice-president of sales and marketing for both clubs, Dana Bridges has been promoted to senior sales associate for each team, David King will be the two teams' ticket manager, and Rosalee Brewer will be the community relations director

Tufford returns for his second stint as head coach of the Prowlers, having coached them last season as well. Tufford stepped down from his coaching post at season's end to assume general manager duties. However, with the firing of Dick Adams as coach on March 16, paired with the addition of Scarfone, Tufford was able to return to the bench for a second season. He directed the Prowlers to a 5-11 campaign last year.

"Art Donaldson (Prowlers and Generals co-owner) and I knew we would be merging the two teams together, we just didn't anticipate it to be this quickly," says Scarfone. "There's a tremendous amount of work ahead of us to get this season up and running smoothly. I can assure you we are all up to the challenge, and we will do everything we can to make both teams model franchises that our fans will be proud to support."

The Prowlers open their third season at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers on Saturday, April 6 at 7:30. The Prowlers home opener is Friday, April 12 at 7:00 from the Greensboro Coliseum against the Charleston Swamp Foxes. Tickets are available for all Prowler games at the Greensboro Coliseum box office Monday through Saturday from 11:00 – 6:00. You can also order tickets through the Prowlers ticket provider, Tickets.com, by calling toll-free at (888) 397-3100.
