Albany Firebirds News Release

ALBANY, NY – Albany Conquest players and Dance Team members had another busy weekend in the community last weekend (March 22-23). The team played in a pre-season scrimmage game on Saturday, March 23rd in Rochester, NY and the players and dance team attended two community events on both Saturday and Sunday.

Head Coach Ron Selesky and his staff were very please with the pre-season game versus the Rochester Brigade. Though there was no official score kept, the Conquest looked strong on both sides of the ball. The Conquest will continue training camp today and conclude the pre-season this Saturday, March 30th with an intersquad scrimmage at Center City Sports Complex in Schenectady NY from 6:00-8:00 pm.

"I thought the game was very encouraging we did a lot of things right and we went a long way in establishing ourselves as a team," said Selesky. "Obviously we have a lot of work to do but we definitely are on the right path."

The Conquest Dance Team participated in the Regional Family Trade Show at Crossgates Mall last weekend. The girls distributed schedules. They also debut their introduction dance. Sharon O'Brien, the Conquest Dance Team Director, added great community spirit by inviting over little 70 girls to participate and then taught several endzone dances.

The Conquest began their quest for a Public Address Announcer this past Sunday, March 24th. Twenty-two participants auditioned to be the next voice of the Conquest. Players from the Conquest signed autographs and participated in the player introduction portion of the try-out. The Conquest will continue their search this Thursday, March 28th at the FYE in Crossgates Mall from 7:00-9:00 pm. For more info please call (518) 487-2222.

"We want people to continue to see us out at events in the Capital District," said Conquest General Manager Robert Thompson. "The buzz is real strong for us leading into our season."

The home opener is April 20th when they host their division rival the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Pioneers at Pepsi Arena. Albany Conquest season tickets and flex packages are still available.
