3/31/00: 14,831 fans attend the Kickoff 2000 game in Birmingham, Ala., to watch the Tennessee Valley Vipers defeat the Birmingham Steeldogs, 59-18. Former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker and Eli Gold handle the color and play-by-play duties. The game is televised on Comcast Cable, which reaches more than one million households throughout the southwest ... The first points in af2 history come on a safety scored by Tennessee Valley's Heath Springer.
3/29/01: With a 41-0 victory over the Peoria Pirates in the Kickoff 2001 matchup, the Quad City Steamwheelers record the first shutout in league history.
