
Conquest Announce Radio Partnership

Albany, N.Y. - The Albany Conquest of arenafootball2 today announced that WZMR 104.9FM will once again be the team's flagship radio station. WZMR, a station within the Pamal Broadcasting Ltd., will broadcast all 16 regular season games along with any potential playoff contests for the 2006 season on the Capital Region's new edge, 104.9 FM
"The new direction that WZMR has taken is a perfect fit for arena football and we are happy to have the all New EDGE be our flagship radio station," said Conquest General Manager S. Garen Szablewski. "The Conquest provide edge-of-your seat football and along with our station's new format should really energize the fans for what should be a very successful season."
The first broadcast will occur on Friday, March 31, 2006 when the Conquest visits the Green Bay Blizzard in a road contest at 8:30pm. Mike McCaffrey will provide the play-by-play call of the season's opening game. All broadcasts begin 15 minutes prior to kick off with the CSEA Pre-Game Show featuring Chalk Talk with head coach Pete Costanza. Each of the club's 16 regular season games will be heard live, while play-by-play announcer Jonathan Scherzer provides the call at each Pepsi Arena home game. Color commentary at all home and select road broadcasts will be provided by former Conquest players OL/DL Rich Barlette and QB Gus Ornstein.

"The Conquest clearly have it right, they know how big the EDGE already is and used the EDGE in their marketing campaign, boy those guys are brilliant," Callahan continued. "Seriously, this is going to be a great season of football and having Conquest fans hear all the games on 104.9 is a tremendous opportunity for the station to grow quickly."
The Albany Conquest will take the field for its home opener on Friday, April 14, 2006 when they take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in a 7:00pm kick off at Pepsi Arena's U.S. Army Field. The U.S. Army presents the pre-game block party on South Pearl Street beginning at 5:30pm. The AFL's greatest player "Touchdown" Eddie Brown will return to Pepsi Arena to have his jersey retired at the game and there will be a visit by the Buffalo Jills Dancers.
