YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The United States Hockey League announced that Youngstown Phantoms forward Kyle Connor has earned USHL All-Academic honors.

Managing the pressure of being a top prospect for the upcoming 2015 NHL Draft, the University of Michigan commit nearly earned straight A's while attending Austintown Fitch High School. With coursework that included American Government, Consumer Math, Economics, and College Prep Writing, Connor maintained high grades while being named both the USHL Player and USHL Forward of the Year.

"Education is extremely important to me and is a big part of my life. I am looking forward to furthering my education at the University of Michigan next year as well," said Connor.

Connor had an outstanding year for the Phantoms, leading the league with 80 points (34g-46a) and setting team and USHL records in the process. He leaves the Phantoms as the franchise leader in goals and points, as well as only one of two players in the Tier-1 era (2002-present) to post back-to-back 30-goal seasons. In addition, Connor's nine game-winning goals and 25 power play assists were the best in the USHL.

"Academic success, community involvement, and on ice development are the three main areas of emphasis for us here in Youngstown. The fact that Kyle was able to have the academic success he did, while also excelling on the ice and in the community speaks volumes about the type of person he is," said Phantoms Head Coach Anthony Noreen.

Connor finishes his USHL career with 82 goals and 113 assists for 195 total points in just 174 career games.
