LONG BEACH, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2004) - The American Basketball Association (ABA) Long Beach Jam signed guard Tony Bobbitt today.
Bobbitt, who just missed making the Los Angeles Lakers roster, had an impressive preseason. In his final two games, Bobbitt scored nine points against Phoenix and tallied 14 points and dished out four assists against Seattle.
A top college player, Bobbitt led the University of Cincinnati in 2004 to the Conference USA Tournament Championship. The tournament MVP, Bobbitt overcame an injury to spark the Bearcats over DePaul, 55-50. Bobbitt made a pivotal 3-pointer and a driving lay-in to clinch the victory, finishing with a team-high 17 points.
Bobbitt and the rest of Long Beach Jam teammates will take part in an exhibition game this Saturday at 7 P.M. at Millikan High School at 2800 Snowden Ave., Lakewood, CA 90712. Admission to the game is $1, with all proceeds going to the Long Beach Chapter of National Junior Basketball.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
