
Condors to Participate in National Kids Day

Sunday, August 7th Bakersfield Sports Entertainment, Colonel Claw'd and Condors Slapshot will be at the 5th Annual Kern County Kids Day on Sunday, August 7th. Kids Day, sponsored by The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County, is part of a national campaign to establish the first Sunday in August as National Kids Day. Families are encouraged to attend and enjoy the local family carnival to be held from noon to 4 pm at the Kern County Museum, 3801 Chester Avenue. Week in Review:
Monday, July 25th Director of Community Relations, Mikie Hayhurst attended the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. 12,000 tickets were sold and the $500,000 home was given away during a special 3-hour televised event. Hayhurst was on-air to help giveaway four season tickets donated by the Condors that were raffled off as a prize leading up to the home giveaway. All proceeds go to benefit the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital and Research.
Thursday, July 21st - Colonel Claw'd and BSE staff participated in the family friendly Street Faire hosted by the Downtown Business Association. The Condors set up the Slapshot hockey game on the corner of Chester Ave and 17th Street from 6:30 -9:30 pm.
July 19th & 20th - Students at the Little Red School House were excited to get a visit from Bakersfield Blitz players and coaches. Head Coach Rick Van Horne, Assistant Coach Paul Press, and players Chris Bochen, Dan Burnett, and Phil Larmon attended the Fruitvale location Tuesday morning. Coach Press scouted for young talent as the children took turns at the Blitz Football Toss. On Wednesday, Coach Van Horne, Dejhown Mandley, and quarterbacks Jason Thomas and Neal Sharma visited the California Ave location. The little ones were excited to learn about the players and practice their skills with the football toss.
Just for Kids: The Bakersfield Condors are offering a special pre- season rate for 2005-2006 Condors Kids Club membership. From now till September 1st, Condors fans age 12 and under can join the coolest club around for only $15! Membership runs from September 1, 2005 to May 31, 2006 and includes tickets to six weekend games and an exclusive gift. Special activities allow for one of a kind opportunities to meet Condors players, coaches and mascots Colonel Claw'd and Baby Cal.
