Bakersfield Condors News Release
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (3-4-1-0, 7pts) led the Stockton Thunder (4-1-1-0, 9pts) late in the third period, but gave up a tying goal in the third and surrendered a late overtime game-winning goal with just six seconds remaining and fell, 3-2, at Stockton Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Stockton took the first seven shots of the game, but the Condors made the most of their first shot of the contest as F Jacob Lagace beat everyone down the ice and slipped one through the legs of Thunder G Tyler Bunz to give Bakersfield a 1-0 lead at the 4:26 mark. Condors G Scott Greenham made it stand up, making 15 saves in the first period.
Greenham continued his strong play in the second, making 18 saves, but was finally beaten by D Ryan Constant at 15:56 of the second period on a snap shot from the right-wing circle to tie the game at 1-1 after two periods of play. Stockton outshot Bakersfield, 19-6.
RW Tyler Brenner gave the Condors a 2-1 lead off a feed from C Levi Nelson at 7:16 of the third period. The Thunder answered back to tie the game at 2-2 at the 13:59 mark when F Toni Rajala was left all alone in front of Greenham for a power-play tally. Greenham came up big minutes later and denied F Philippe Cornet on a penalty shot to send the game to overtime tied at 2-2.
After the Condors failed to convert on an overtime power play, D Tony DeHart rifled a slap shot from the blue line into the back of the net with just six seconds remaining in overtime to give the Thunder a 3-2 win.
