Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. â The Bakersfield Condors scored three times in the second period and Kevin St. Pierre stopped 33 shots for his league-leading ninth win for a 4-1 victory over the Long Beach Ice Dogs in front of 6,857 at Centennial Garden on Saturday night. The win was the sixth in a row for the Condors, and the attendance was the highest of the season for Bakersfield.
The first period looked as if it were going to end scoreless, but the Condors ended up with a late power play goal. Jimmy Drolet extended his point streak to four games with his first goal of the season at 19:39. Bakersfield led 1-0 after one.
Bakersfield erupted early in the second period for three goals to chase Long Beach starter B.J. Boxma from the game. Jason Ralph scored a shorthanded goal and a power play goal in the first 3:45 of the period. Paul Rosebush ended a 12-game drought a few minutes later for his second goal of the season, and the Condors were in control 4-0. A power play goal later in the second period put Long Beach on the board to make it 4-1 after two.
No goals were scored in the final frame, as Bakersfield held the Ice Dogs to just four shots on goal, and took the 4-1 victory. The win was the third in a row on home ice for the Condors, who retain their spot in second place, improving to 9-4.
The Condors Army grew stronger in numbers tonight, as well, as over 50 people had their head shaved by The Hot Spot. They were shaving their heads to follow the lead of Head Coach Paul Kelly and the Condors staff, who continue to shed the locks as the team's winning streak continues. Next up for the Condors front office is Director of Team Operations & Merchandise Deric Voelker.
The team hits the road for a pair of games wrapped around Thanksgiving, starting with Long Beach on Wednesday night. All Condors games home and away can be heard on KGEO AM 1230, starting with "Condors Countdown" 15 minutes prior to face off. The next home game is Saturday, November 30th at 7:00pm against Long Beach, as well, for Teddy Bear Toss Night, sponsored by CBS-29 and the Home & Leisure Superstore.
