Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, have signed LW Dany Roussin (roo-SEHN). The announcement was made by Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond.
Roussin, 23, is entering his fourth professional season, having split time between the American Hockey League and the ECHL in his previous three campaigns. He spent all of last season with the Reading Royals in the ECHL, racking up 23 goals and 57 points in 65 games. He led the Royals in assists and finished a close second in both goals and points. Roussin also tied for the team lead with six goals and 10 points in 13 Kelly Cup Playoff contests.
Roussin has skated in 153 ECHL games, all with Reading, recording 53g-74a-127pts, and ranks as the Royals all-time leader in goals and power play goals (25). He also has skated in 44 career AHL games with the LA Kings affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs, recording 8g-4a-12pts.
"With Dany we have certainly added some skill to our team," said Raymond. "He is a proven scorer at this level and he has spent some time in the AHL as well. He's a big addition to our hockey club and we're happy to have him."
The 6-foot-2-inch, 200-lb. Quebec City native was drafted twice - first by the Florida Panthers in the seventh round in 2003, and then by the Kings in the second round of 2005 after the Panthers failed to sign him.
Roussin enjoyed a distinguished junior career, twice scoring over 50 goals and 100 points with the Rimouski Oceanic in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He finished second on the club in points three straight seasons, and led the QMJHL in goals (59) in 2003-04. In 2004-05 he ranked second in the league in goals (54) and points (116) only to linemate Sidney Crosby, and helped lead the Oceanic to a QMJHL title and a spot in the Memorial Cup finals, where they fell to the London Knights.
Roussin becomes the ninth player under contract with the Condors for 2008-09. He joins forwards Dave Bonk, Liam Huculak, Tylor Michel, Dale Reinhardt, Dan Rudisuela and Ryan Salvis, and defensemen Martin Frechette and Tyler Scott.
