
Complete Effort Lifts Jaxx over Stars

HUNTSVILLE, AL. (May 4, 2010) - Good pitching and timely hitting gives the Diamond Jaxx (13-13) their second straight win over the Huntsville Stars (15-12) on Wednesday, 7-3. The Jaxx have won four straight against the Stars and lead the season series 4-3. In the win, the Jaxx hammered their minor league leading 35th and 36th homers of the season.
Johan Limonta extended his hitting streak to eight straight with a 2-for-5 night with a homer and two RBI. Dustin Ackley was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Alex Liddi was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI's. Liddi took the team lead with 22 RBI on the season. Joe Dunigan added a 3-for-5 game with an RBI.
Steven Hensley (3-1) becomes the first three game winner for the Jaxx. Hensley follows Michael Pineda from last night by working seven innings. Hensley struck out eight and walked five in the outing, while allowing just one unearned run. Huntsville starter, Chris Cody (2-3) suffers the loss on Wednesday. Josh Fields dealt a scoreless inning of relief for the second straight day.
Huntsville took advantage of a dropped pop up in foul ground by Johan Limonta in the bottom of the second inning. With two runners on, Brent Brewer had a second chance and drove in Zealous Wheeler with a single. The Stars took a 1-0 lead.
The Jaxx dented the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning with two runs. Johan Limonta brought in Carlos Triunfel with a single and Dustin Ackley singled in Carlos Peguero to give the D-Jaxx a 2-1 advantage. The hit for Ackley was his second of the night.
Johan Limonta opened the Diamond jaxx half of the seventh inning with a solo homerun to right. The homer was Limonta's third of the year. With two runners on Alex Liddi smacked his second triple of the year scoring Luis Oliveros and Dustin Ackley. Joe Dunigan singled home Liddi capping off the four run inning and providing the Jaxx a 6-1 lead in the seventh.
Huntsville grabbed two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning off of Jaxx reliever Aaron Jensen. Caleb Gindl doubled in Brett Lawrie and Zealous Wheeler brought in Lee Haydel on a ground out to short. The Jaxx still led the Stars 6-3 after the eighth.
The Jaxx finished off their scoring in the top of the ninth inning with a solo homerun by Luis Oliveros. The homer was the first of the year by Oliveros.
The Jaxx and Stars meet again at 7:00 on Thursday in Huntsville, AL. RHP Dan Cortes (2-1, 6.56) will start for West Tenn while the defending Southern League Pitcher of the Week, Amaury Rivas (4-0, 0.90) starts for Huntsville.
