HOUSTON-Former Memphis RiverKings/Memphis Xplorers Community Relations representative Stacie White has closed one chapter in her life and opens up another this week - literally. White will soon be hitting the books as she begins law school on August 15 at Texas Southern University.

White is best known to RiverKings and Xplorers fans as the Kids' Club/X-Squad coordinator, sending out birthday cards and newsletters and manning the club table at every home game, where members and non-members alike found plenty of games and activities to do. She even helped the children start their own charitable donation program and conducted a nightly raffle just for members.

"I've always enjoyed working with children," White said. "Children's legal issues is something I've always been attracted to.

"One of the things I like about law is that it's so flexible. For instance, my experience with Maddox Sports introduced me to working with non-profit organizations, which I have really enjoyed. If I decide to go into the non-profit sector, a law degree would be extremely helpful. There are just so many possibilities."

White's father practices law independently in Texas and is an alumnus of Texas Southern.

"I used to watch my dad and I always said, ‘I'll never be a lawyer,' but over the past few years I've found myself thinking of doing just that," she said. "I finally succumbed to it and took the LSAT. I still can't believe I'm going to law school just yet, but I'm really excited. And of course my dad is one proud papa."

White said she will especially miss all the children she met through her work with the teams.

"Dealing with the kids on a nightly basis was so much fun," she said. "I had plenty of helpers, kids who were organized and responsible and who would hang out with me at the table for the entire game. My favorite part of my job centered around working with kids. I loved going on appearances to classrooms, watching them interact with the players. Working with the children was the best part."

The RiverKings and Xplorers wish Stacie the best of luck in her future endeavors and will sorely miss her. But who knows? With a law degree, she just might be back in a few years as a player's agent.
